Advancing the Health Professions Through Technology Standards
Technology standards are essential to scale competence and performance assessment, track education and improvement, and map the curriculum. Join us in developing common solutions to advance the health professions.
MedBiquitous is a consortium that develops and promotes technology standards for the health professions that advance lifelong learning, continuous improvement, and better patient outcomes. MedBiquitous also provides a forum to exchange ideas about innovative uses of Web technologies for healthcare education, assessment, and improvement.
Use Data to Drive Improvement
MedBiquitous standards let you connect what you’re teaching to international frameworks. MedBiquitous standards allow you to bring together curriculum data for benchmarking or use the data to drive accreditation and improvement. The Association of American Medical Colleges is using MedBiquitous standards to collect curriculum data from medical schools in the US and Canada. In 2014, they collected curriculum data from 120 medical schools.
MedBiquitous standards also let accreditors collect continuing education (CE) data using a common
language and enable the collection of data on CE that supports specific FDA Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS).
Bring Competency Data Together
MedBiquitous standards let you connect what learners know to what they should know. MedBiquitous standards let you bring competency data together across schools, programs, or sites for a comprehensive view of learner competency and performance. The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons used MedBiquitous standards during the development of its Online Multi-source Feedback Tool to assess performance in core competencies for practicing surgeons.
Track Learning Achievements
MedBiquitous standards make it easy for you to track the learning achievements of healthcare professionals, including Continuing Education and certification requirements.
The American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) uses MedBiquitous standards to track progress of certified physicians towards completing the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) requirement for Performance in Practice. When a pediatrician completes an approved activity provided by an organization using MedBiquitous standards, information about his or her completion is sent to the ABP electronically.
Any materially affected party may participate in the MedBiquitous Standards Committee, the official consensus body of MedBiquitous that ballots all proposed standards.
All MedBiquitous members are recognized as MedBiquitous members and have the opportunity for representation on the MedBiquitous Standards Committee. In addition, members can propose new standards projects, participate in the MedBiquitous Working Groups that develop standards, serve
in leadership roles, and receive discounts on MedBiquitous meetings and educational activities.
Sustaining members receive all of the benefits of Basic Membership. In addition, Sustaining Members may participate in a Sustaining Members-only meeting with MedBiquitous leadership, receive two free MedBiquitous Scholar registrations to the MedBiquitous Annual Conference, and receive discounts for onsite instruction and developer meetings.
